Juventus have agreed a deal to sign 18-year-old defender Louis Reynaud from Toulouse, according to L’Équipe. The centre-back will join the Italian club on a four-year contract, marking his first professional move after developing through the Toulouse academy.
Reynaud, born in Puy-en-Velay, joined Toulouse at the age of 11 and made his first team debut in a Coupe de France match against Angers in January, playing 19 minutes. Despite his potential, he opted against signing a professional contract with the Ligue 1 side, opening the door for a move abroad. The left-footed defender, standing at 1.90m, recently recovered from a back injury and had been featuring for Toulouse’s reserve team, making 10 appearances this season.
The transfer comes at a period of change for Juventus, who recently dismissed their general manager Damien Comolli, who previously served as president of Toulouse, as reported by Sky Sports and Gianluca Di Marzio. This move prevents a potential reunion between Comolli and Reynaud in Turin.
Reynaud’s departure represents a loss for Toulouse, who will miss out on the development of a promising young talent. For Juventus, the signing adds depth to their defensive options and aligns with a strategy of investing in young players with high potential. The acquisition could provide competition for existing centre-backs and offer a long-term solution in that position. His arrival will likely see him initially integrated into the Juventus youth setup, with a pathway towards first-team opportunities.
