Juventus winger Edon Zhegrova a target for Besiktas - reports
Juventus winger Edon Zhegrova has emerged as a summer transfer target for Turkish Süper Lig side Besiktas, according to reports in Italy and Turkey. The 25-year-old Kosovo international only joined the Bianconeri last summer from Lille for a reported fee of €14.3 million but has failed to secure a regular starting role. With Juventus pushing for Champions League qualification, the club is reportedly open to offers for the winger as they plan their summer business.
According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Besiktas are actively preparing a move for the 25-year-old as they plan for next season. The Turkish giants are expected to lose winger Milot Rashica at the end of the season and have identified Zhegrova as a potential replacement. Club officials have reportedly made contact with the player's representatives to gauge his interest and discuss potential terms.
Zhegrova’s first season in Turin has been a struggle for consistent minutes. Since his €14.3 million move from Lille, the winger has made 21 appearances across all competitions, but the majority have been from the bench, amassing just 447 minutes of playing time. He has yet to register a goal or an assist for Juventus. His lack of impact, particularly under manager Thiago Motta, has led to speculation over his future, despite his contract running until 2030. In the last 11 Serie A matches, he has been an unused substitute eight times, playing a total of just 65 minutes in the other three games.
The potential move to Besiktas would offer Zhegrova a chance for more regular first-team football and a fresh start. For Juventus, a sale would represent a chance to recoup a portion of their initial investment and reallocate funds for their own summer rebuild. For Besiktas, the move represents an ambitious attempt to sign a high-profile, if underperforming, talent from a major European club as they look to challenge for the Turkish Süper Lig title next season. The Turkish transfer window opens on June 14, and the club is keen to make an early statement of intent in the market. No formal offer has been submitted, but talks are reported to be at a preliminary stage.
