Juventus Women are set to appoint Isaac Oriol Guerrero as their new head coach, according to reports from TuttoSport. Guerrero, currently a collaborator with the United States Women's National Team under manager Pochettino during the World Cup, is expected to arrive in Turin imminently to begin preparations for the upcoming season, with the pre-season schedule starting on July 7th.
This appointment marks Guerrero’s first experience as a head coach, though he brings extensive experience in football methodology and youth development. He spent over eleven years at Barcelona, holding roles as vice director of methodology, Head Coaching, and Technical Director of the Barça Academy. In 2021, he moved to Venezia as Youth Technical Director and head of methodology. Juventus’s new sporting director, Mazzetta, reportedly prioritized a coach with a strong background in the Spanish footballing model after a deal with another target, Cortés, fell through.
The potential agreement with Cortés collapsed due to protracted negotiations, a significant financial commitment of €500,000 gross for two years, and reluctance from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, as Cortés also manages the Saudi Arabian women’s national team. Other candidates such as Tomé and Spugna were also considered and ultimately passed over, with Tomé now appearing close to joining Napoli.
Guerrero will be joined at Juventus by Berta Prat Hernandez, who worked alongside him at Venezia. Hernandez arrived at the club in 2021 and departed last summer after securing promotion to Serie B with the women’s first team. The club is now focused on reshaping the squad, with no new signings officially announced yet, though Serturini, a former Roma and Inter winger, is reportedly a target. Contract situations for veteran players Rosucci, Bonansea, and Salvai are also being addressed, as is the future of Girelli, currently on loan at Bay FC, and potential departures of Wälti, Harviken, and Calligaris.
