- FC Kaiserslautern are poised to make Erencan Yardımcı their record signing next summer, should they exercise the obligation to buy following a season-long loan from TSG Hoffenheim. The second-division club have agreed a deal with Hoffenheim for the striker, according to Sky Germany, signaling a significant financial commitment for the Rhineland-Palatinate side.
The initial loan will cost Kaiserslautern €500,000, with the subsequent mandatory purchase clause estimated at €5 million. This would surpass the club’s existing transfer record of €4 million, paid for Lincoln in 2001. The move demonstrates Kaiserslautern’s ambition as they look to strengthen their squad for a promotion push.
Yardımcı’s transfer is nearing completion, with a medical examination already scheduled. The 24-year-old forward has spent the past two seasons on loan, first with Sturm Graz and then with Braunschweig, gaining experience in both Austria and Germany’s second tier. He originally joined Hoffenheim in 2021, but has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter.
His market value has fluctuated in recent years. After a successful spell with Sturm Graz in 2024, his value was estimated at €3 million. However, following his time at Braunschweig and a lack of consistent game time, Transfermarkt.com recently updated his value to €1.8 million in June. Despite this decrease, Kaiserslautern clearly see potential in Yardımcı to justify the substantial investment.
The obligation to buy clause suggests Kaiserslautern are confident Yardımcı will make a significant impact during his loan period. This move represents a considerable outlay for a 2. Bundesliga club, but it underlines their determination to compete at the higher level. Should he successfully integrate into the team, Yardımcı could become a key figure in Kaiserslautern’s pursuit of promotion to the Bundesliga.
