Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu has drawn attention from Premier League clubs Manchester United and Tottenham, according to reports emerging from Italy. The interest comes shortly after Kalulu turned 26, a birthday marked by disappointment after being omitted from the France squad for the recent international competitions.
Juventus publicly acknowledged Kalulu’s birthday with a statement on their official website, highlighting his increasing importance to the team. The club noted his versatility and effectiveness, emphasizing that he has played more minutes – 4,381 in 49 games – than any other Juventus player this season. He has also contributed two goals and seven assists across Serie A and the Champions League.
Despite not earning a call-up to Didier Deschamps’ France squad, Kalulu’s consistent performances for Juventus have not gone unnoticed. The report suggests that both Manchester United and Tottenham have enquired about his availability. Kalulu currently earns €2.5 million per year with a contract running until 2029, a relatively affordable wage for clubs with significant financial resources.
Juventus are aware of this situation and are keen to renew Kalulu’s contract, with manager Luciano Spalletti considering him an essential member of the squad. Negotiations have begun, though there is a gap between the club’s offer and the player’s demands. Kalulu’s representatives are seeking an annual salary of at least €4 million, while Juventus are hesitant to exceed €3.5 million.
However, a compromise is anticipated, as Juventus are determined to retain a player they consider their best acquisition of the past two years, having initially signed him on loan from Milan for €3 million before making the deal permanent for an additional €14 million. Kalulu himself has publicly expressed his positive relationship with Spalletti, stating that the team shares a “common and clear idea” under his leadership. His consistent performances and adaptability make him a valuable asset the club is eager to keep.
