Noham Kamara has signed a permanent deal with Olympique Lyonnais, officially moving from Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday. The 19-year-old defender joined Lyon on loan during the January transfer window and has now made the switch permanent for a fee of €4.1 million, the clubs confirmed. A further €2 million could be added to the fee contingent on certain conditions being met.
Kamara progressed through the PSG academy and made two Ligue 1 appearances for the Parisian club this season before his loan move to Lyon. He quickly established himself as a promising talent during his time on loan, demonstrating maturity beyond his years in the heart of the Lyon defence. The move represents a significant opportunity for Kamara to secure regular first-team football and continue his development.
Lyon have exercised the option to buy, demonstrating their faith in the young French international, who has also represented France at the under-20 level. PSG will retain a 20% interest in any future sell-on fee should Lyon profit from a subsequent transfer of Kamara. This structure allows PSG to benefit from the player’s continued progress without hindering his immediate development at Lyon.
The Lyon board have been careful with their budget this transfer window, and the signing of Kamara represents a shrewd investment in a young player with considerable potential. He is expected to join the squad for the resumption of training on June 29th and will be available for selection in Lyon’s Champions League qualifying match on August 4th or 5th. The addition of Kamara bolsters Lyon’s defensive options ahead of a demanding season, both domestically and in European competition.
