Harry Kane and Michael Olise both rejected the opportunity to join Paris Saint-Germain before completing their moves to Bayern Munich, according to a report in France.
L’Équipe reported on Tuesday that both players engaged in discussions with PSG, but ultimately decided against a transfer to the Ligue 1 champions. The report cites an anonymous source within the Parisian club as the origin of the information.
PSG identified Kane as a potential replacement for Lionel Messi and Neymar following their departures in 2023, but the England captain reportedly “did not really believe” in the direction of the project at the Parc des Princes. Kane subsequently joined Bayern Munich in a deal reportedly worth over €100 million, ending his long association with Tottenham Hotspur.
The 30-year-old has quickly established himself as a key player for Bayern, scoring 36 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions. His arrival has significantly bolstered Bayern’s attacking options and has been instrumental in their pursuit of domestic and European honours.
A year later, in 2024, Michael Olise also opted for a move to Bavaria, despite interest from PSG. The French winger joined Bayern from Crystal Palace, adding further attacking depth to Thomas Tuchel’s squad. Olise had impressed in the Premier League with Palace, showcasing his dribbling ability and creative passing, becoming a sought-after talent.
The report suggests that PSG’s attempts to convince Olise were also unsuccessful, mirroring the situation with Kane. The addition of both Kane and Olise has significantly strengthened Bayern’s attacking options, creating a formidable forward line capable of challenging for major trophies. This pairing represents a significant investment in attacking talent for the German champions, positioning them as strong contenders in both the Bundesliga and Champions League.
