Yassine Kechta has completed a move to Spanish Segunda División side Leganés after his contract with Le Havre expired, the club confirmed on Sunday. The Moroccan midfielder has signed a four-year deal with Leganés, meaning Le Havre will receive no compensation for his departure.
Kechta departs Le Havre after three seasons with the Normandy-based club, where he became a key figure in the starting eleven under manager Didier Digard. He progressed through Le Havre’s youth academy and featured in a total of 122 matches for the club, including 93 appearances in Ligue 1. His departure follows that of captain Arouna Sanganté, who also left on a free transfer, this time to Sevilla.
The move to Leganés offers Kechta the opportunity to continue his development in a competitive league. Leganés will be hoping Kechta can bolster their midfield as they aim to challenge for promotion to La Liga. The Spanish club recently saw Valladolid and Las Palmas join them in the Segunda División for the upcoming season.
Kechta has also represented Morocco at youth levels and will be looking to establish himself further at the international level with consistent first-team football. His departure leaves a void in Le Havre’s midfield, but the club will now look to reinvest and strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The midfielder’s ability to dictate play and contribute defensively made him a valuable asset for Le Havre, and his absence will be felt.
