Franck Kessie has indicated his willingness to return to Italy, with Juventus emerging as a potential destination, according to reports from Sportitalia. The Ivorian midfielder has decided not to renew his contract with Al Ahli and will be available on a free transfer from July 1st.
Kessie left Barcelona for Al Ahli in the summer of 2023, but appears to be seeking a return to European football. Speaking in the mixed zone after Ivory Coast’s victory over Ecuador in the World Cup, Kessie stated, “A return to Italy? Certainly. I am still playing and I can go anywhere.” He further added that opportunities exist “in Italy, outside of Italy, and in Arabia,” but that he is currently focused on the World Cup.
Juventus are reportedly keen on acquiring the experienced midfielder as part of Luciano Spalletti’s squad rebuild. The club is seeking to add seasoned players to bolster their options, and Kessie’s profile aligns with their requirements. His potential availability on a free transfer makes him an even more attractive prospect for the Turin side.
Since joining Al Ahli, Kessie has made 119 appearances, scoring 26 goals and providing 15 assists. He has won a Saudi Super Cup and two AFC Champions League titles during his time in Saudi Arabia. In the recently concluded Saudi Pro League season, he featured in 26 matches, contributing 5 goals and 4 assists. Across all competitions last season, Kessie scored a total of 12 goals in 42 appearances.
Kessie previously enjoyed a successful spell in Serie A with AC Milan, becoming a key player for the Rossoneri before his move to Barcelona. A return to Italy would see him reunite with a league where he has already proven his quality, potentially offering Juventus a significant boost in midfield.
