Liverpool have announced that young winger Kieran Morrison has signed a new four-year contract with the club, extending his stay at Anfield. The 19-year-old joined Liverpool from Manchester United in 2019 and has impressed within the academy setup, most recently excelling in Premier League 2.
Morrison enjoyed a breakthrough season in the youth ranks, registering 14 goals and two assists in 18 appearances in Premier League 2. This form earned him a nomination for the league’s player of the year award and saw him make his senior debut in the League Cup, alongside regular appearances on the bench for Premier League matches. The left-footed player’s progress has convinced Liverpool to secure his future with a long-term deal.
The club confirmed the contract signing via an official statement, noting Morrison’s journey with the club began at the U14 level. According to The Athletic, the new contract is set to run for four years, though a loan move is anticipated in the coming season to provide Morrison with regular first-team football.
Liverpool are reportedly anticipating significant interest in taking Morrison on loan, with several clubs already expressing interest. The club’s plan is for Morrison to gain valuable experience elsewhere before returning to compete for a place in the first team, potentially challenging the wingers signed this summer, including Rio Ngumoha. This approach reflects Liverpool’s strategy of developing young talent alongside acquiring established players.
