Kimpembe joined Qatar SC last summer following a long spell with Paris Saint-Germain, seeking regular playing time after a period hampered by injuries. He struggled to regain consistent form and fitness following previous injury setbacks.

He also earned 28 caps for the French national team, playing a role in their 2018 World Cup triumph, though he missed the 2022 tournament through injury.
