Lorient's Kouassi Attracts Bundesliga Interest, Says Agent
Burkina Faso international Arsène Kouassi is attracting significant interest from the Bundesliga following a standout season with Lorient, according to his representative. The 23-year-old defender, who joined Lorient for a fee of just €1.2 million, has become a key target for several clubs, with the German top flight emerging as a likely destination.
According to reports from German outlet FußballTransfers, Bundesliga clubs Bayer Leverkusen, VfB Stuttgart, and Eintracht Frankfurt have all registered their interest in the 23-year-old wing-back. Kouassi’s agent, Ahmed Touba, confirmed the widespread attention, stating that a move could be considered at the season's end. "Once the season is over, we will examine all options," Touba said. "Should an ambitious project arise where all parties benefit, it is worth serious consideration."
Kouassi's move to Lorient last summer, which almost saw him join RC Lens before the deal collapsed, has proven to be a masterstroke. The full-back has been an instant success, contributing two goals and five assists in 26 Ligue 1 appearances this season, a major factor in Lorient's campaign. His dynamic performances on the left flank, combining defensive solidity with attacking impetus, have made him one of the revelations of the French league. His form has not gone unnoticed, with clubs from Italy's Serie A, including AS Roma and Genoa, also credited with an interest, along with French side RC Strasbourg.
Lorient, who signed Kouassi for a modest fee, now face a significant decision. With a contract that runs until 2028, the Breton club is under no pressure to sell, but a substantial offer could prove difficult to refuse. Kouassi's value has increased significantly, and a summer transfer appears increasingly probable. His agent, Touba, emphasized a measured approach, stating, "It's only natural that when you perform well, you strive for more. But we will calmly assess the situation at the end of the season, in full agreement with the club's management." The coming months will reveal whether Kouassi's next career move will be to the Bundesliga or another of Europe's top leagues.
