Eli Junior Kroupi, the 19-year-old forward for Bournemouth, would favour a transfer to Barcelona this summer should he leave the Premier League, according to Sport. The Catalan club are seeking a replacement for Robert Lewandowski and have identified Kroupi as a potential target alongside Julian Alvarez.
Kroupi has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Bournemouth, scoring 12 Premier League goals under Andoni Iraola. His performances have attracted attention from several clubs, including the recently crowned La Liga champions, but the player reportedly grew up as a Barcelona fan and would welcome the opportunity to join the club.
Despite Kroupi’s preference, a deal will likely prove difficult to negotiate. Bournemouth are currently unwilling to sell the young forward, and any potential offer would need to be substantial to convince them to part ways with a key player. The club’s stance adds a significant hurdle to Barcelona’s pursuit.
A further complication stems from Kroupi’s representation. His agent, Moussa Sissoko, has a strained relationship with Barcelona following Ousmane Dembele’s departure to Paris Saint-Germain in 2023. The club reportedly blames Sissoko for facilitating the move, and any deal for Kroupi would require a reconciliation between the two parties.
Barcelona would need to repair their relationship with Sissoko to have a realistic chance of signing Kroupi, a risk they may be willing to take given the player’s potential. However, investing a significant transfer fee in a player with only one season of Premier League experience represents a considerable gamble for the financially cautious club. The situation leaves Kroupi’s future uncertain as the summer transfer window approaches.
Securing Kroupi would provide Barcelona with a young, dynamic attacking option as they look to build for the future. His arrival could also offer a different profile to Lewandowski, potentially adding pace and movement to their forward line.
