Juventus are reportedly interested in signing João Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich, according to reports from A Bola. The 29-year-old Portuguese midfielder recently returned to Bayern following a season-long loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur, where he played a crucial role in keeping the club in the Premier League with a vital goal against Everton.
Palhinha initially joined Bayern from Fulham in 2024 for a reported fee of €51 million, but struggled to establish himself in the team due to a serious muscle injury that sidelined him for two months. Despite showing promise early on, the arrival of Pavlovic limited his opportunities. His loan to Tottenham allowed him to regain form and demonstrate his quality, earning praise from then-manager Roberto De Zerbi, who described himself as “in love” with the player and expressed a strong desire to keep him at the club.
Tottenham ultimately opted not to exercise their €30 million option to buy Palhinha, paving the way for a potential move to Italy. While AC Milan have also expressed interest, potentially leveraging their connection with manager Rúben Amorim, who previously coached Palhinha at Sporting, Juventus are hoping to secure a loan deal to manage their expenses. Bayern manager Vincent Kompany is not expected to feature Palhinha in his plans.
Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti could utilize Palhinha to strengthen his midfield, potentially alongside or in place of Manuel Locatelli. The Portuguese international offers both physicality and quality, having recorded seven goals and three assists in his recent season with Tottenham. A loan move would provide Palhinha with a chance to rebuild his career and prove his worth in Serie A, while offering Juventus a valuable addition to their squad. Juventus’ sporting director Giovanni Carnevali is reportedly leading the pursuit, with a potential link to Bayern’s Goretzka also being explored.
