Juventus are actively pursuing a deal to sign Alexander Sorloth from Atletico Madrid, with manager Luciano Spalletti taking a direct role in convincing the player to join the Turin club. Spalletti reportedly contacted Sorloth directly from his retreat in Montaione, outlining the project at Juventus and gauging the player’s interest.
Atletico Madrid are understood to be open to selling Sorloth, and the Norwegian international has indicated a willingness to move to Italy and join Juventus. He views the club as a significant step in his career and a platform to showcase his goalscoring ability in Serie A. The potential deal emerged during discussions between the two clubs regarding the future of Nico Gonzalez.
Sorloth has previously played in Spain with Villarreal and Real Sociedad, but is now seeking a new challenge in the Italian top flight. Juventus initially considered a move for the 28-year-old in January, but were priced out by Atletico’s demands of €35 million. However, the fee is now reported to be around ten million euros less, making a transfer more feasible.
Juventus are prepared to offer Sorloth a contract worth approximately €4 million net per season. Spalletti is particularly impressed by Sorloth’s ability to lead the line and his performance against Italy while managing the national team, where he scored the winning goal in Oslo last year. The club is keen to finalize the deal quickly, fearing his value could increase should he perform well at upcoming international tournaments.
Juventus’ sporting directors, Comolli and Ottolini, have received a strong endorsement from Spalletti, who is eager to move on from the situation surrounding Dusan Vlahovic. The club is aiming for an agreement with Atletico Madrid that covers both Sorloth and Gonzalez, balancing sporting ambitions with financial considerations. Sorloth has reportedly given a positive signal to his representatives, indicating his desire to join Juventus.
