Juventus are showing concrete interest in Venezia midfielder Issa Doumbia, with the club reportedly making initial inquiries about the 22-year-old’s availability according to reports in Italy. Venezia, who achieved promotion to Serie A last season largely thanks to Doumbia’s contributions, are prepared to sell if their valuation is met.
Doumbia enjoyed a breakout season in Serie B, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in 37 appearances, establishing himself as a dynamic box-to-box midfielder. His performances have attracted attention from several European clubs, including Besiktas from Turkey and teams in the English Premier League and Portugal. Sporting CP are reportedly prepared to offer 20 million euros for the player, a figure slightly below Venezia’s asking price of 25 million euros.
Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti is reportedly a fan of Doumbia’s profile, and the club’s sporting directors see value in acquiring a player who qualifies as ‘Federation trained’ – meaning he developed within the Italian football system between the ages of 15 and 21 – to aid their UEFA squad registration requirements. However, Juventus are currently prioritizing other targets, including Bernardo Silva and Alisson, and are taking time to assess their options, particularly pending Champions League qualification which would bring a significant financial boost.
The Bianconeri are considering a last-ditch effort to convince both Doumbia and Venezia of their commitment, potentially offering improved financial terms. They are also monitoring alternative midfield options, including Davide Frattesi of Inter, who would likely cost at least 30 million euros, and Stiller of Stuttgart, whose price tag could reach 50 million euros if Stuttgart activate a clause to remove his release clause. Juventus are hesitant to include Andrea Cambiaso in a potential deal for Frattesi at this stage. The situation remains fluid, but Juventus are keen to strengthen their midfield options ahead of next season.
