Juventus are exploring alternative goalkeeping options, with Napoli’s Vanja Milinkovic-Savic emerging as a potential target, according to reports in Italy. The interest comes as negotiations for Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez prove difficult, with the Premier League club seeking a fee in the region of €10-15 million.
New Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali is carefully evaluating the situation surrounding the 33-year-old Martinez, who had previously reached a preliminary agreement for a three-year contract worth €5.5 million per season before the recent changes in the club’s leadership. However, the financial demands from Aston Villa, coupled with the need to fund a replacement – reportedly Parma’s Zion Suzuki – are prompting Juventus to consider more affordable alternatives.
Milinkovic-Savic, the 29-year-old brother of Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, is reportedly available for transfer from Napoli. Juventus staff, including sporting director Marco Ottolini, have gathered information on the Serbian goalkeeper, who is known for his penalty-saving ability and distribution skills. He previously played for Torino.
Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti had identified Alisson Becker as a priority target earlier in the window, and an agreement was reportedly close, but Liverpool ultimately decided against selling the Brazilian international. This setback has broadened Juventus’s search, with other goalkeepers including Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid, Guglielmo Vicario of Tottenham Hotspur, and Lucas Chevalier of Paris Saint-Germain also under consideration. The club is actively building a list of potential replacements for Michele Di Gregorio.
The potential arrival of Milinkovic-Savic would provide competition and depth in the goalkeeping position, addressing a key area for improvement ahead of the new season. The situation remains fluid as Juventus weigh up their options and attempt to secure a suitable replacement between the posts.
