Juventus are weighing a potential move to re-sign Dusan Vlahovic, offering the Serbian international a two-year contract, according to reports in Tuttosport. This comes as the club seeks to address a significant goalscoring deficiency that has plagued them for the past five seasons.
Juventus have not averaged more than 1.6 goals per game in any of the last five campaigns, a stark contrast to Inter Milan, who have exceeded two goals per game in three of those seasons. The Bianconeri have consistently lacked a consistent 20-goal scorer, with Dusan Vlahovic’s 18 goals in the 2023-24 season representing a recent high point. Manager Luciano Spalletti has reportedly communicated to sporting director Giovanni Carnevali that securing two strong strikers is a top priority.
Vlahovic departed Juventus last year, but the signings intended to replace him – David and Openda – proved unsuccessful, exacerbating the team’s attacking issues. The club now finds itself needing to replace both those failed acquisitions and reinforce the forward line. Offering Vlahovic a new deal could represent a cost-effective solution, particularly if he accepts a reduced salary of €6.5 million net per season – an offer he previously declined.
The potential for Vlahovic to accept a lower salary has increased as opportunities with larger European clubs have not materialized. While his previous five seasons have been characterized by inconsistency, with flashes of brilliance interspersed with periods of modest form and injury setbacks, Juventus are hoping Spalletti can unlock his potential. A return for Vlahovic would significantly reduce the financial burden compared to his previous contract, lowering the annual cost from approximately €40 million to around €12 million, freeing up funds for further acquisitions.
Juventus are also pursuing Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain, but negotiations are proving difficult due to the French club’s high asking price. The possibility of re-signing Vlahovic could influence the Kolo Muani deal, potentially leading Juventus to explore alternative attacking options if a deal for the PSG forward cannot be reached. The club is carefully weighing the pros and cons of bringing Vlahovic back to Turin, considering both his past performance and the potential financial benefits.
