Juventus are weighing a move to re-sign Dusan Vlahovic, but the transfer is contingent on the player accepting a reduced salary and a change in attitude, according to reports in Italy. The club, under new leadership, is evaluating several factors before making a firm offer for the Serbian striker.
Financial implications are a primary concern for Juventus. While re-signing Vlahovic would avoid a significant outlay on a new forward, the club is mindful of its wage bill, particularly with returning loanees and contract renewals for Kenan Yildiz, Weston McKennie, and Manuel Locatelli. Juventus will not exceed the financial ceiling established by Yildiz’s contract extension and aims to avoid a similar situation next year. Any deal for Vlahovic would require him to accept a salary of just over €6 million net per season for at least two years, with limited commissions for his father and agent, Milos Vlahovic.
Beyond the financial aspects, Juventus is also assessing Vlahovic’s attitude and integration within the squad. The club wants to see a more humble and dedicated approach from the 24-year-old, emphasizing hard work and commitment over perceived arrogance. Previous comments referencing the contracts of Arkadiusz Milik and Yildiz during prior negotiations reportedly did not sit well with the club.
Juventus also needs to consider the reaction of the club’s supporters. Vlahovic was previously booed by fans after his departure and during a pre-season friendly, but he subsequently won them over with his performances on the pitch. The club believes a similar turnaround is possible, but Vlahovic will need to earn their trust once again.
Vlahovic’s representatives have reportedly been in contact with several clubs, including Besiktas, who have offered him an €8 million per season contract, but the player is still hoping for a return to Turin. He is keen to avoid a career trajectory similar to those of Adrien Rabiot and Paulo Dybala, who struggled to maintain their form after leaving Juventus. Giovanni Carnevali, the CEO of Sassuolo, has indicated a willingness to facilitate a deal, signaling a potential pathway for Vlahovic’s return. Juventus are also pausing their pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani, prioritizing a move for Vlahovic instead. The potential savings of between €25 and €30 million, without paying a transfer fee, are proving attractive to the club.
Vlahovic is hoping for a resolution within the next ten days, and Juventus are expected to initiate talks with the player to discuss the terms of a potential deal.
