Juventus are facing increasing competition for the signature of Bologna defender Jhon Lucumí, with Inter and Nottingham Forest also expressing strong interest in the Colombian international. The Serie A giants have been tracking Lucumí for some time, but must now contend with rival bids as the transfer window progresses.
Lucumí recently concluded his participation in the World Cup with Colombia, where they were eliminated by Switzerland in the round of sixteen. He is currently enjoying a short break before beginning preparations for the upcoming season, though his future at Bologna remains uncertain given the attention from other clubs. Juventus have identified Lucumí as a potential reinforcement for their defense, alongside Tarik Muharemovic of Sassuolo and Oumar Solet of Udinese.
Negotiations with Sassuolo for Muharemovic are ongoing, but an agreement has yet to be reached. Juventus already hold a 50% sell-on clause for the Bosnian defender, meaning they would only need to cover half of his valuation. Talks with Udinese regarding Solet also took place, with the Italian club valuing the player at €30 million. Inter are also reportedly interested in Solet, who is seeking an exit from Udinese.
Lucumí’s contract with Bologna runs until June 30, 2027, but Juventus have been working on a deal to secure his services. Previous attempts to include players in a swap deal were unsuccessful, with a gap remaining between Bologna’s asking price and Juventus’ offer. The deadline to activate Lucumí’s release clause of €28 million is July 15th; after this date, Juventus will need to negotiate directly with Bologna.
Nottingham Forest have also entered the race for Lucumí, having previously signed Nicolò Savona and Douglas Luiz from Juventus in recent years. They also acquired Dan Ndoye from Bologna last summer for over €40 million, suggesting a positive existing relationship between the two clubs. Lucumí is believed to be open to a move to Juventus, but the Premier League side’s financial power could prove to be a significant factor. Inter are also considering Lucumí as they seek to bolster their defensive options following the departures of Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij, and while awaiting clarity on Alessandro Bastoni’s future.
