Juventus are monitoring the situation of Jhon Lucumí, the Colombian centre-back currently at Bologna, according to reports in Italy. Lucumí has informed Bologna of his desire to leave the club, with his contract set to expire next June, prompting the Serie A side to consider offers. While Como have emerged as strong contenders, reportedly prepared to offer around €25 million, Lucumí is reportedly holding out for a potential move to Juventus.
Lucumí, who has previously expressed a preference for joining Juventus despite interest from Cesc Fabregas at Como, has requested a brief period to assess whether the Turin club will make a formal bid. The player apparently believes a move to Juventus remains a possibility, despite the club’s current focus on other priorities. Bologna are keen to avoid losing Lucumí for free and are therefore open to selling him this transfer window.
Luciano Spalletti, the Juventus manager, is believed to be interested in Lucumí as a left-sided centre-back, a position he could challenge for alongside current player Kelly. The 29-year-old’s profile fits what both Spalletti and Fabregas are looking for in a defender – a player capable of initiating play from the back. Bologna had previously considered signing Muhamed Muharemovic to fill a similar role, but Lucio, a figure within the club, was unconvinced.
Juventus recently received €17.4 million from the sale of Muharemovic to Leeds, providing them with funds for potential acquisitions. However, the club are currently prioritizing the signing of a new striker and goalkeeper, meaning a move for Lucumí may be delayed. Juventus also have several players returning from loan spells, creating a surplus of options in defence. Nevertheless, the possibility of losing out on Lucumí to Como is pushing the club to consider a swift decision, as they risk seeing another defensive target slip through their fingers.
