Juventus have agreed to loan 20-year-old forward Diego Pugno to Ajax for the upcoming season, the clubs confirmed. The loan deal includes an option for the Dutch side to make the transfer permanent. Pugno arrived at Juventus in 2021 and progressed through the club’s youth system.
He made his debut for the Juventus first team in a Serie A match against Lecce in December 2024, marking a significant milestone in his development. Last season, Pugno featured nine times for the Juventus Next Gen team, scoring two goals. Juventus are actively seeking to provide playing time for promising young players, and a spell in the Dutch Eredivisie is seen as a valuable developmental opportunity.
According to a statement released by Ajax, the loan lasts for one season and includes the purchase option. Pugno will immediately join Jong Ajax, the club’s reserve team, to begin his experience in Dutch football. This move allows him to gain regular competitive minutes and further hone his skills in a different footballing environment.
In addition to Pugno’s departure, Juventus Women have also loaned out two players to Frosinone. Forward Giorgia Berveglieri, born in 2005, and defender Sofia Bertucci, born in 2004, will both spend the 2026/27 season with the Serie B club. Berveglieri has previously had loan spells with Brescia and Freedom, while Bertucci returns to Frosinone after a previous loan stint, having also played for Napoli, Sampdoria and Parma. These moves are intended to provide both players with increased playing time and experience as they continue their development within the Juventus system. These loan departures highlight Juventus’ commitment to nurturing young talent and providing opportunities for them to progress their careers.
