Juventus have offered Tottenham Hotspur the chance to sign forward Jonathan David in a deal that would see goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and left-back Destiny Udogie move to Turin, according to Italian outlet TuttoJuve. The proposed swap is being considered as Tottenham look to reshape their squad under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, with improvements to the forward line a key priority.
Spurs are expected to allow Richarlison to depart, despite the Brazilian finishing as the club’s top scorer last season with 12 goals, and the future of Dominic Solanke is also uncertain due to ongoing injury concerns. While young forward Will Lankshear is set to be integrated into the first team, De Zerbi is aiming to add more proven goalscoring threat after Tottenham managed just 48 Premier League goals in the recent campaign.
David, a Canada international, has scored 154 goals in 362 career appearances, including 109 during his time with Lille. Despite a relatively quiet season with Juventus, scoring six goals and providing four assists in Serie A, his overall record and movement in the penalty area are seen as valuable assets. However, David is also a target for Newcastle United this summer.
Juventus are reportedly keen on Vicario, who has expressed a desire to return to Italy, though Inter Milan are also interested. The Italian club are also targeting Udogie as a potential replacement for Andrea Cambiaso, who has been linked with several Premier League clubs. Udogie’s time at Tottenham has been hampered by injuries, leading the club to consider cashing in on the player. Tottenham could potentially agree to the deal for David and Vicario while retaining Udogie, depending on De Zerbi’s plans.
Ultimately, the deal could prove beneficial for both sides, allowing Juventus to address their goalkeeping and left-back positions while providing Tottenham with a consistent goalscorer. Tottenham are anticipating a busy summer transfer window as they aim to improve on back-to-back 17th-place finishes in the Premier League.
