Juventus are exploring the possibility of signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani as they seek to fill the void left by Dusan Vlahovic’s impending departure, according to reports emerging from Italy. Vlahovic will leave the club on a free transfer on June 30th, leaving Juventus short of options up front, with coach Luciano Spalletti reportedly unimpressed with current attacking alternatives.
Spalletti has stated the need for a centre-forward is “as essential as bread” for the team, with previous targets like Openda and Jonathan David failing to convince. Arkadiusz Milik’s fitness is also considered unreliable. This has led the club to intensify efforts to bring Kolo Muani back to Turin. Initial discussions between the two clubs took place in Budapest during the Champions League final, with PSG valuing the player at €30 million for a permanent transfer.
Juventus are hoping to capitalize on Kolo Muani’s desire to return to the club, where he previously enjoyed a successful period, scoring 10 goals in 22 appearances. His recent spell at Tottenham was underwhelming, and the forward is keen to rediscover his form in familiar surroundings. A potential swap deal involving Jonathan David has emerged as a possible solution that could benefit both parties.
The proposed swap would see David move to Paris, while Kolo Muani returns to Juventus. PSG sporting director Luis Campos is familiar with David, having previously scouted him at Genk and bringing him to Lille in 2020. Campos is aware of David’s struggles to fully adapt to Juventus and believes he could thrive in Paris, despite already having Ousmane Dembélé and Gonçalo Ramos as forward options. From a financial perspective, both clubs would benefit from the deal, avoiding potential losses on player valuations and freeing up wage budget space. Juventus would also generate a significant profit from David, who arrived on a free transfer last year. The funds saved from Vlahovic’s departure, exceeding €40 million in amortization and wages, would further allow Juventus to pursue additional attacking reinforcements.
This potential move could resolve attacking deficiencies for both clubs, providing a fresh start for both players and strengthening their respective squads for the upcoming season.
