Juventus are in negotiations to sign goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez from Aston Villa, though a deal is not yet complete, according to reports in Italy. An agreement has been reached with the player himself on a three-year contract worth €5 million net per season.
However, talks with Aston Villa are proving more challenging. Juventus officials acknowledge an indemnity will be required to secure Martínez, who will turn 34 in the coming months. Initial approaches from the Turin club, led previously by outgoing executive Damien Comolli, were unsuccessful in swaying Villa to begin serious discussions.
Villa are reportedly open to allowing Martínez to depart, considering his time at Villa Park to be nearing its conclusion, and have already begun exploring replacements, with Parma’s Zion Suzuki identified as a potential target by manager Unai Emery. The two clubs maintain a positive relationship, which could facilitate negotiations, but both parties are keen to avoid financial loss.
The transfer process has been delayed by recent changes to Juventus’ board, with Giovanni Carnevali set to take the lead on negotiations once officially in place. Martínez is currently focused on the World Cup with Argentina and is not rushing the process.
Juventus are also pursuing other targets, including Alexander Sorloth from Atlético Madrid, though the Spanish club is currently holding firm on their asking price. Randal Kolo Muani remains a possibility, but discussions have been paused due to the recent upheaval at Juventus. Further defensive reinforcements are also being considered, with José Giménez, Lukasz Lucumì, and Muharemovic among the options. The potential arrival of Brahim Diaz is also dependent on the future of Bernardo Silva, who is expected to join Real Madrid.
