Juventus have emerged as potential suitors for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kerim Alajbegovic, according to reports in Italy. The Bianconeri are prepared to offer around €35 million for the Bosnian international, though a deal is contingent on player sales to generate funds.
Alajbegovic impressed last year playing for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, notably in a match against Bosnia and Herzegovina, which attracted attention from several European clubs. Following that performance, clubs including Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle, Sunderland, Betis, Napoli, Roma and Atalanta all expressed interest, with Napoli’s sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, reportedly a particular admirer of the player.
Currently on loan at Red Bull Salzburg, Alajbegovic has demonstrated versatility, capable of playing on both wings and as an attacking midfielder. His skillset includes dribbling, pace, and an eye for goal, making him a desirable target for clubs looking to bolster their attacking options. Juventus’s current Chief Football Officer, Frederic Massara, previously attempted to sign Alajbegovic for Roma during the January transfer window, leveraging his relationship with Miralem Pjanic, who represents the player.
While Chelsea are also interested, it is believed that Juventus could offer Alajbegovic a more central role in their plans under manager Luciano Spalletti, compared to a potentially peripheral role under Xabi Alonso at Chelsea. Currently, another club is leading the race, prepared to offer Leverkusen €40 million and then loan Alajbegovic to a club competing in the Europa League to ensure regular playing time. Juventus will intensify their pursuit if their attempt to sign Brahim Diaz fails to materialize. The club’s immediate priorities remain a goalkeeper and a centre forward, meaning any move for Alajbegovic is dependent on outgoings.
