Roma are actively working on securing the signings of Antonio Nusa from RB Leipzig and Santiago Castro from Bologna, according to reports in Italy. The club is shifting its focus after previous pursuits of Mason Greenwood and Crysencio Summerville proved unsuccessful, aiming to strengthen their attacking options ahead of a season that includes Champions League football.
Nusa, a Norwegian international who impressed at the recent World Cup, is reportedly a key target for Gian Piero Gasperini. However, securing his signature will be challenging, with RB Leipzig seeking a fee between €55 and €60 million, a figure influenced by interest from several Premier League clubs. Roma’s ownership group has reportedly authorized the opening of negotiations, demonstrating their financial commitment despite the high asking price, having previously allocated €50 million for Summerville. The club is also monitoring alternatives such as El Mala (Cologne), Bobb (Fulham), and Luiz Henrique (Zenit), but Nusa remains their priority.
Alongside the pursuit of Nusa, Roma are making significant progress in their efforts to sign Castro from Bologna. Gasperini is reportedly attracted to Castro’s versatility and South American flair, viewing him as a potential replacement for Malen and an option on the left wing, a position he excelled in during his time at Vélez. Castro has moved ahead of Nicolò Tresoldi in the club’s estimations, with his ability to play multiple roles being a key factor in the new strategy. Bologna have been offered €35 million for the Argentinian, and the deal could be further complicated by the potential inclusion of another Roma player, possibly Robinio Vaz.
Roma are also considering other defensive options, including Israel Reyes from Club America, valued at €8 million, but the immediate focus remains on bolstering the attack. These moves signal Roma’s ambition to compete at the top of Serie A and make a significant impact in the Champions League, and would provide Gasperini with greater tactical flexibility in the final third.
