AC Milan are considering a summer move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Gonçalo Ramos as they plan a significant overhaul of their faltering attack, according to reports from Italy. The 24-year-old Portuguese international has been proposed to the club's hierarchy as a potential solution to a severe goal-scoring crisis that has plagued the Rossoneri's season.
Milan's forwards have struggled immensely, with the last goal from a recognized attacker coming from Rafael Leao in the 94th minute of a match against Cremonese in January. In the fifteen league matches since, the entire team has scored only sixteen goals, with just six of those coming from the attacking unit. Leao and Christopher Nkunku have two each in that period, while striker Niclas Füllkrug has managed only one. This has left the team twelfth in the Serie A scoring charts for the second half of the season, a stark contrast to a prolific first half where they netted 32 times.
The tactical setup under manager Massimiliano Allegri has come under scrutiny, with the 3-5-2 formation struggling for balance when deploying Leao and Christian Pulisic together. The club's top scorers this season are Leao and midfielders Scott McTominay and Hakan Calhanoglu, all tied on nine goals, highlighting the lack of a reliable focal point. With the team needing to secure Champions League qualification and build a squad capable of challenging domestically and in Europe, a revamp is deemed essential.
Gonçalo Ramos, who has scored twelve goals in 41 appearances for PSG this season, is seen as a profile that fits Milan's traditional strategy of investing in young talent with resale value. The Portuguese striker has been on the club's radar in previous transfer windows, though talks never progressed beyond initial enquiries. His agents have now actively offered him to Milan, suggesting a deal could be feasible, though a significant transfer fee would still be required as PSG are not looking to sell him cheaply.
Ramos is not the only name on Milan's shortlist. The club is also monitoring Alexander Sorloth of Atletico Madrid, while dream targets like Juventus's Dusan Vlahovic and Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski remain long-shot possibilities due to their financial and contractual complexities. Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson, returning from a loan at Bayern Munich, is another player reportedly available. The pursuit of Ramos signals a potential shift, acknowledging that the club's recent strategy of bargain hunting for forwards has not paid off and that the financial benchmark may need to be raised.
The coming months will be crucial for Allegri and the sporting directors to define the tactical system for next season, which will dictate the exact profile of striker required. Regardless of whether the formation remains 3-5-2 or shifts to a 4-3-3, the consensus is that at least two new forwards are needed. The expected summer revolution in attack aims to address the chronic inconsistency that has left Milan overly reliant on midfield contributions and individual moments of brilliance from Leao.
