Alban Lafont is poised to leave Nantes for Turkish Super Lig side Amedspor in a permanent transfer worth around €1 million, according to L’Équipe. The 27-year-old goalkeeper recently returned to Nantes following international duty with the Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where he served as understudy to Yahia Fofana.
Amedspor, a Kurdish club, secured promotion to the Turkish top flight for the first time in their history this season. Nantes, relegated to Ligue 2 at the end of the previous campaign, have reportedly reached an agreement with the Turkish side for Lafont, who had one year remaining on his contract with the French club.
Lafont spent last season on loan at Panathinaikos, making 35 appearances in all competitions for the Greek side. He initially joined Nantes in 2018 from Fiorentina and quickly established himself as a key player, becoming a fan favourite during his time in France. However, his position at Nantes had become uncertain following the arrival of Maxime Dupé from Nice.
Nantes manager Michel Der Zakarian has indicated that Dupé will be his first-choice goalkeeper this season. This decision appears to have paved the way for Lafont’s departure, allowing him to secure regular playing time with Amedspor. The move represents a new chapter for Lafont as he embarks on a venture into Turkish football, while Nantes continue to rebuild following their relegation.
