Theo Hernandez is seeking a return to European football after one season with Al-Hilal, with his agent Manuel García Quilón offering the player to both Juventus and Napoli, according to reports in Italy. Hernandez departed Milan last year for a lucrative deal with the Saudi Arabian club, reportedly earning 20 million euros annually.
His move to Al-Hilal followed a change in management at Milan, ending a strong connection with former directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, who were instrumental in bringing him to the club in 2019. Hernandez played a key role in Milan’s Serie A title win in 2022, making 195 appearances for the Rossoneri and contributing 31 goals and 27 assists from the left-back position.
Despite concerns about potentially jeopardizing his place in the French national team, Hernandez received assurances from national team manager Didier Deschamps that his condition would be the determining factor for selection. The player is now eager to return to a top European league, and his agent has begun exploring options in Italy. Juventus and Napoli have both been contacted, with Quilón indicating Hernandez would be willing to accept a significant pay cut to rejoin a competitive environment.
At Juventus, the arrival of Hernandez could potentially lead to the departure of Andrea Cambiaso, who has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs including Barcelona, Chelsea, Inter and Como, although concrete offers have yet to materialize. Both Juventus sporting director Ricky Massara and manager Spalletti are reportedly admirers of Hernandez, viewing him as a potential upgrade to their current squad. However, Juventus are hesitant to exceed the wage ceiling established by Kenan Yildiz’s contract, and Napoli have offered a similar non-committal response. The financial demands of Hernandez may prove to be a significant obstacle to any deal, with a move to the Premier League considered a more realistic outcome.
