Konrad Laimer has acknowledged ongoing negotiations with Bayern Munich regarding a contract extension, though he stopped short of confirming an agreement has been reached. Reports emerged recently suggesting the Austrian international is poised to extend his stay at the Allianz Arena beyond his current deal, which was set to expire in 2027.
Speaking to ServusTV, Laimer stated, “It’s not official yet. But it’s definitely on a very good path.” The midfielder’s comments indicate that discussions are advancing positively, despite a formal announcement not yet being made. He also expressed a clear feeling of appreciation from the Bavarian club.
Laimer joined Bayern from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023, signing a four-year contract. He has quickly established himself as a key component in Thomas Tuchel’s midfield, providing energy and tactical flexibility. Prior to his move to Munich, the 29-year-old spent four seasons with Leipzig, becoming a prominent figure in their Bundesliga challenge and Champions League campaigns.
When asked directly if he felt valued by Bayern, Laimer responded affirmatively, stating, “Yes, very much. It’s a good fit.” This suggests a positive relationship between the player and the club, contributing to the willingness to negotiate an extension. Bayern’s interest in retaining Laimer reflects his importance to their squad and Tuchel’s tactical plans.
Despite the progressing talks, Laimer emphasized his current focus remains solely on international duty with Austria. “I’m concentrating on the here and now. That’s always been my approach,” he explained. “I hope we’ll be here for a very long time,” he added, hinting at a desire to remain with both Bayern and the national team for the foreseeable future. Securing Laimer’s long-term future would provide Bayern with further stability in midfield as they compete on multiple fronts.
