Konrad Laimer has confirmed ongoing contract negotiations with Bayern Munich following their 3-0 DFB-Pokal final win over VfB Stuttgart on Saturday.
The 28-year-old’s current deal with the Bavarian club runs until 2027, but discussions are underway to potentially extend his stay beyond that date, though an agreement has yet to be reached.
Speaking to Sport1 after the victory in Berlin, Laimer expressed his contentment at the club, stating, “I feel really comfortable here. It’s really a lot of fun in the team. We’ll see how things continue.”
Laimer dismissed suggestions that salary demands were hindering progress in negotiations, responding to a question on the matter by saying, “You don’t even know what I’m asking for! To be honest, I’ve never demanded anything at all.” He emphasized his commitment to winning further trophies with Bayern, having already secured a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double this season.
The Austrian international joined Bayern from RB Leipzig in 2022, becoming a regular feature in Thomas Tuchel’s midfield. He has made 33 appearances across all competitions this season, contributing with two goals and three assists, demonstrating his versatility and work rate.
Laimer’s arrival at Bayern followed a successful four-year spell with Leipzig, where he established himself as a key player under Julian Nagelsmann. He played a crucial role in Leipzig’s run to the Champions League semi-finals in 2020 and won the DFB-Pokal in 2022.
Despite the lack of a concrete timeline, Laimer remained optimistic about a positive resolution, noting the unpredictable nature of football transfers. “Maybe tomorrow we’ll say, ‘Boom, we’ll get it signed.’ Maybe we’ll say that after the World Cup. I don’t know. Things can happen very quickly any day,” he added.
Securing Laimer’s future would provide Bayern with midfield stability and continuity as they look to maintain their dominance in German football and compete for European honours.
