Konrad Laimer has extended his contract with Bayern Munich until 2029, the club announced on Friday. The Austrian midfielder’s new deal secures his future with the German record champions, ending speculation surrounding his potential departure after reports emerged earlier in the day regarding contract negotiations.
The 29-year-old signed for Bayern last summer from RB Leipzig, quickly establishing himself as a key component in Thomas Tuchel’s midfield. Laimer made 33 appearances across all competitions for Bayern last season, demonstrating his versatility and work rate. He previously played a crucial role in Leipzig’s rise, joining the club in 2017 and becoming a regular starter under Julian Nagelsmann.
Negotiations between Laimer and Bayern had reportedly stalled over salary expectations. According to reports, Laimer initially requested a raise from €9 million to a figure between €12-15 million annually, a demand the club initially deemed too high. The situation was reportedly resolved with the intervention of Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeneß, leading to a compromise that satisfied both parties.
