Angers forward Lanroy Machine has joined Dutch Eredivisie side Heerenveen on a loan deal with an option to buy, the French club announced on Monday. The 20-year-old will continue his development in the Netherlands, with Heerenveen holding the possibility of making the move permanent at the end of the season, though the financial details of the option have not been disclosed.
Machine featured 22 times for Angers across all competitions last season, primarily as a substitute, making just three starting appearances. He scored his only goal of the campaign in a 5-1 defeat to Lens in March. The move represents a chance for increased playing time for the young attacker, something he struggled to achieve consistently in Ligue 1.
Heerenveen’s technical director, Johan Hansma, expressed the club’s belief in Machine’s potential. “We see great potential in him and will do everything we can to help him progress,” Hansma said in a club statement. Heerenveen finished eighth in the Eredivisie last season and will be hoping Machine can contribute to a push for European qualification.
Angers have been active in the transfer market this summer, with Machine’s departure following those of Abdoulaye Bamba, Pierrick Capelle, and Florent Hanin, all of whom left the club as free agents. The club has also brought in several new faces, including Anthony Lopes from Nantes, Branco Van den Boomen from Ajax, and fellow loanees Usman Simbakoli and Anthony Bermont. Amine El Ouazzani has also joined Braga on loan. Machine’s loan move continues this reshaping of the Angers squad.
This transfer provides Machine with an opportunity to showcase his abilities in a different league and potentially secure a permanent move to Heerenveen, while Angers continue to rebuild their squad for the upcoming season.
