Guimaraes has reportedly agreed personal terms with Arsenal, but Newcastle’s firm stance remains a significant obstacle.
Should Arsenal’s attempts to sign Guimaraes fall through, the club has already identified Scott as their primary alternative. Arsenal previously made an enquiry for the 23-year-old earlier in the transfer window, but it was dismissed by Bournemouth. The Cherries are currently attempting to convince Scott to sign a new contract with a release clause, but those efforts have stalled, as the player has declined the offer.
Scott has two years remaining on his current contract, and Bournemouth are reluctant to sell this summer despite the likelihood of losing him on a free transfer in the future. This stance has not deterred other suitors, with Chelsea having a £64 million bid for Scott rejected recently.
