Ornstein's report, delivered on NBC Sports, contradicts recent speculation from other quarters that a deal was close. Just days earlier, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano had stated that talks were moving to their final stages, with salary almost agreed and only the length of the contract and minor clauses to be clarified.
