Barcelona have added Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos to their list of summer transfer targets, according to TEAMtalk. The Catalan club's interest comes after they were informed that Chelsea will not entertain any offers for their own forward, Joao Pedro.
The search for a long-term attacking option is underway at Barcelona, despite the possibility of veteran Robert Lewandowski remaining for another season. Sporting director Deco has been conducting due diligence on several high-profile names, with Manchester City's Julian Alvarez and Juventus's Dusan Vlahovic also under consideration. An enquiry for Chelsea's Joao Pedro, a player Deco has long admired, was swiftly rebuffed by the Premier League side, who view the Brazilian as a key part of their future.
With that avenue closed, Barcelona have now intensified their focus on Goncalo Ramos. The 24-year-old Portugal international joined PSG from Benfica in 2024 after an initial loan deal triggered a mandatory €65 million purchase option. Sources indicate PSG are open to letting Ramos leave this summer, as the player has grown frustrated with his role primarily as a substitute. During his three seasons in Paris, Ramos has scored 45 goals in 127 appearances.
Barcelona's pursuit, however, could set up a direct transfer battle with Chelsea, who have also been alerted to Ramos's potential availability as they seek to add competition in the centre-forward position. Any move for Ramos or the club's dream target, Julian Alvarez, would require Barcelona to make significant sales to comply with financial regulations, with defender Jules Kounde among those linked with a potential exit.
The situation underscores the ongoing strategic shift at Barcelona as they plan for a future beyond Lewandowski. Securing a younger, prolific striker is a clear priority, but the club's financial constraints mean their ambitions are balanced against the need to generate funds through player sales. Ramos represents a potentially more attainable target than Alvarez, who is valued at around €100 million by Atletico Madrid.
