Bayern Munich Smash Bundesliga Scoring Record in 5-0 Rout of St. Pauli
Bayern Munich delivered a ruthless and record-breaking performance on Saturday, thrashing St. Pauli 5-0 to move within one win of the Bundesliga title. The victory at the Allianz Arena saw the Bavarians surpass the league's single-season scoring record, netting their 102nd and 103rd goals of the campaign to break their own scoring mark.
Despite making seven changes to the side that advanced in the Champions League in midweek, Bayern showed no drop in intensity. Jamal Musiala opened the scoring early, heading home a Konrad Laimer cross in the 9th minute to set the dominant tone. The hosts continued to press, with Nicolas Jackson and Musiala hitting the woodwork before the break, while Kim Min-jae's crucial block preserved the lead at the other end.
Any hope of a second-half St. Pauli comeback was extinguished shortly after the restart. Leon Goretzka volleyed home a superb first-time finish from a set-piece in the 53rd minute, a goal that also set a new Bundesliga record for goals in a single season. Moments later, Michael Olise, a constant threat, made it 3-0 with a low, driven strike from the edge of the box.
Jackson added a fourth with a composed finish after a high-press forced a turnover, and substitute Raphaƫl Guerreiro added a late fifth, capping off a dominant team performance. The result leaves Bayern needing a win on the final day to secure a record-extending 34th Bundesliga title. The record-breaking 103rd league goal of the campaign, scored by Guerreiro, was the final flourish on a historic night for the champions.
