Bayern Munich have agreed a deal to sign left-back Nathaniel Brown from Eintracht Frankfurt, the club confirmed on Thursday. The transfer fee is reported to be €50 million, with a further €5 million potentially payable in add-ons. Brown has signed a contract with the Bavarian giants that will run until 2031.
The 23-year-old moves to the Allianz Arena after a successful spell with Frankfurt, where he established himself as a key player. He joined Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2024 from Nuremberg for a fee of €5.5 million, and this transfer represents a significant profit for the club. Nuremberg will receive 12.5% of the transfer fee, amounting to over €6 million.
Brown recently represented Germany at the World Cup, making three appearances and contributing with one goal and one assist. His performances at the tournament reportedly accelerated Bayern’s interest in securing his signature. The move was initially scheduled to take place while Brown was still involved in the World Cup, with a medical planned in the United States, but was delayed following Germany’s surprise elimination against Paraguay in the round of 16.
At Bayern Munich, Brown will compete with Alphonso Davies for the left-back position. Davies has been frequently hampered by injuries, playing only 841 minutes this season, creating an opportunity for Brown to establish himself as a regular starter. The arrival of Brown also addresses the departure of Raphaël Guerreiro, whose contract expired at the end of the season.
This transfer strengthens Bayern Munich’s squad as they aim to maintain their dominance in the Bundesliga, having already secured a record 35 league titles. Brown’s addition provides tactical flexibility and depth in a crucial position, potentially solidifying their defense for years to come.
