Galatasaray are preparing a bid for Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram, according to reports emerging from Italy. The Turkish champions see Thuram as a key target to strengthen their midfield ahead of next season, with a potential offer in the range of €35-40 million including bonuses.
Juventus’ failure to qualify for the Champions League could prompt the club to consider selling the French international, who would generate a significant profit. Manager Luciano Spalletti is reportedly keen to reinforce his midfield options with a quality player or an attacking midfielder, and Thuram’s departure could free up funds for such a signing. The situation is further complicated by the potential financial impact of missing out on Champions League revenue, estimated to be between €55-60 million.
Thuram joined Juventus from Nice in the summer of 2024 for a fee of €20 million. Since then, his value has reportedly doubled, while the cost to Juventus’ balance sheet has decreased to €12 million. While his absence would be felt, a potential profit of €25-30 million would be a substantial boost to the club’s finances.
Despite being overlooked by Didier Deschamps for the French national team ahead of the upcoming tournament, Thuram has impressed with his strength and dynamism. Galatasaray officials were particularly impressed by his performance against them in the Champions League play-off, despite Thuram missing a crucial opportunity. The changing landscape of football and the financial power of clubs like Galatasaray, demonstrated by their acquisition of Victor Osimhen, mean a move for a player of Thuram’s calibre is now a realistic possibility. Several Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa and Newcastle, are also monitoring the situation, potentially increasing competition for the player's signature. Juventus are also reportedly pursuing Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson as a potential reinforcement, regardless of their European qualification status.
