Le Mans FC have agreed a loan deal for Rayan Bamba, a 22-year-old right-back from Stade Rennais, the club confirmed on Tuesday. Bamba will join the Ligue 2 side for the duration of the upcoming season, seeking regular first-team football after limited opportunities in Brittany. The move comes as Le Mans continue to bolster their squad ahead of their campaign.
Bamba signed for Rennes in 2021, but has yet to make a senior appearance in Ligue 1. He has primarily featured for the club’s reserve team, with previous loan spells at Concarneau in the National division and Nancy in Ligue 2. Last season, the Franco-Ivorian played 20 matches for Nancy, gaining valuable experience in the second tier of French football. He demonstrated his ability to contribute at a professional level, though opportunities at Rennes remain limited.
According to Le Parisien, Bamba is expected to sign a contract extension with Rennes until 2028 before completing his loan move to Le Mans. This extension suggests Rennes retain faith in Bamba’s potential, while simultaneously recognizing the benefit of him gaining consistent playing time elsewhere. The loan agreement does not include an option for Le Mans to make the transfer permanent.
