Milan, under new manager Paulo Amorim, are prioritizing strengthening their midfield with Sporting Lisbona’s Morten Hjulmand, according to reports. The 27-year-old Danish international has already reportedly given his approval to a potential transfer to the Serie A club.
Amorim is aiming to implement a modern 3-4-2-1 formation and is seeking targeted reinforcements to enhance an already strong squad. While not demanding a complete overhaul, the coach recognizes areas needing improvement, with central midfield being a key focus following anticipated departures of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fofana. Hjulmand, who previously played in Serie A with Lecce, has made 141 appearances and scored 10 goals for Sporting Lisbona over the past two seasons.
Alongside Hjulmand, Milan are also considering Marc Casadò, a 22-year-old who came through the Barcelona academy. Casadò has 75 appearances for Barcelona and is seeking a new challenge, with agent Jorge Mendes proposing him to the Milan hierarchy. The club, led by owner Gerry Cardinale and directors Almstadt, Gardiner, and Lomonte, will evaluate both players alongside Amorim’s preferences.
Further forward, Milan legend Zlatan Ibrahimović has reportedly been impressed by Kerim Alajbegovic, an 18-year-old forward from Red Bull Salzburg and Bosnia. Ibrahimović described Alajbegovic as a “star,” and his endorsement could lead to a concrete offer, although the club will face competition from other Italian sides such as Roma and Atalanta, as well as foreign interest. Milan’s recent acquisition of João Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain demonstrates their ability to move decisively when they identify a target. The club is currently the most active in the transfer market in Italy.
