Real Madrid and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Yan Diomande, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano on Monday evening. The 19-year-old Ivorian forward is expected to travel to Madrid this week to complete a medical and finalise a contract that will run until 2031.
The reported fee for Diomande is in excess of €100 million, representing a significant investment by the Spanish club. However, Sky Germany are reporting that a full agreement has not yet been reached, and negotiations are ongoing with several details still to be resolved. This discrepancy in reporting suggests the deal is complex and subject to last-minute changes.
Paris Saint-Germain had also been heavily linked with a move for Diomande in recent weeks, but the club confirmed on Sunday that they had withdrawn their interest. PSG cited the transfer fee and salary demands as being “completely disproportionate and distortive”, stating they would not compromise their financial principles. This withdrawal paved the way for Real Madrid to solidify their position as frontrunners.
Diomande enjoyed a breakout season with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists. His impressive form established him as one of the most exciting young attackers in European football, attracting attention from several top clubs. He also made his debut for the Ivory Coast national team, featuring at the World Cup this summer and providing one assist in four appearances.
