South Korean midfielder Lee Kang-in is set to move from Paris Saint-Germain to Atlético de Madrid for a fee of €40 million, including bonuses, according to reports from RMC Sport and Fabrizio Romano. The transfer has been agreed upon between the two clubs on Monday, offering Lee a chance to return to Spanish football.
Lee arrived at PSG in the summer of 2023 from Mallorca for a reported €22 million, but struggled to establish himself as a regular starter under manager Luis Enrique. Primarily utilized as a squad player, the 25-year-old contributed 16 goals and 15 assists in 124 appearances for the Parisian side across three seasons. Despite being a valuable rotation option, consistent playing time proved elusive for the South Korean international.
The move to Atlético presents Lee with an opportunity to feature more prominently, potentially under the tactical guidance of Diego Simeone. Atlético’s style of play may suit Lee’s versatile skillset, allowing him to contribute in multiple attacking positions.
