RC Lens have confirmed the signing of Polish winger Michal Skoras from Belgian side La Gantoise on a permanent deal. The 26-year-old has agreed to a contract with the Ligue 1 club until 2031, having previously been under contract with La Gantoise until 2029. According to L’Équipe, the transfer fee is €6 million, with a further €750,000 potentially payable in bonuses.
Skoras arrives at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis with a growing reputation after an impressive season in Belgium. Last season, he scored two goals and provided seven assists in the Belgian Championship. He has also earned 14 international caps for Poland, demonstrating his quality on the international stage. His 49 European appearances will provide valuable experience to the Lens squad.
The move to Lens continues a strong tradition of Polish players at the club, a connection that will likely appeal to supporters. Lens have a history of attracting and developing talent from Eastern Europe, and Skoras will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of previous Polish stars to represent the club. The transfer represents a significant investment for Lens as they look to build on their recent success.
RC Lens sporting director Jean-Louis Leca highlighted Skoras’ versatility as a key factor in the club’s decision to pursue the transfer. Leca stated that Skoras’ dynamism and technical qualities allow him to perform effectively as either a wing-back or a winger, adding that this flexibility will be a valuable asset to the team. This adaptability suggests Skoras could provide tactical options for manager Franck Haise. The signing bolsters Lens' attacking options ahead of a challenging Ligue 1 campaign and potential European commitments.
