Juventus’s attempt to sign Alexander Sorloth from Atletico Madrid has encountered difficulties in negotiations, though lines of communication remain open between the two clubs. The potential transfer is fueled by a strong existing relationship between the clubs and Sorloth’s clear desire to join Juventus, having communicated this wish to Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone.
Initial contact from Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti proved successful, with a contract proposal – reportedly approved by Sorloth’s representatives – offering the player a deal until 2029, with an option for a further year, at a salary of €4 million net per season. Sorloth himself inadvertently hinted at an impending announcement via social media, anticipating a swift resolution.
However, progress has stalled due to a gap in valuation. While Juventus are willing to offer up to €30 million – comprised of €25 million plus performance-related bonuses – Atletico Madrid are currently seeking between €35 and €40 million for the Norway international. Juventus’s financial flexibility is further constrained by the potential departure of Dusan Vlahovic, with the club potentially needing to sign two or even three forwards if he leaves and other attacking options, such as David and Openda, also move on.
Despite the impasse, Juventus are determined to pursue the deal, aware that interest in Sorloth is growing, with Fenerbahce among the clubs monitoring the situation. Simultaneously, Juventus are exploring alternative attacking options. Mateo Pellegrino of Parma has emerged as a potential target, with the club planning to meet with his representatives in the coming weeks. Pellegrino’s strong season has attracted attention from other European clubs, and Parma may be willing to sell for a fee between €20 and €25 million.
The club is also considering Ricardo Pepi of PSV Eindhoven, with a similar price tag to Pellegrino. A loan move for Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran is considered a contingency plan, should Juventus fail to secure their primary targets late in the transfer window.
