Inter Milan are preparing to significantly trim their midfield options this summer, with as many as six players potentially leaving the club to generate funds for a move for Liverpool’s Curtis Jones, according to reports in Italy. The Nerazzurri currently boast twelve central midfielders on their books, a number deemed unsustainable by club officials.
Inter have reportedly made an initial offer of €25 million for Jones, but Liverpool are holding firm, seeking a fee closer to €40 million despite the player’s contract expiring in 2027. Jones himself is said to favour a move to Milan, prioritizing the opportunity over potential offers from the Premier League.
The most likely player to depart is Davide Frattesi, who has fallen out of favour at the San Siro. Despite a disappointing season, Inter still value the Italian international at around €30 million, and are awaiting a concrete offer from Nottingham Forest. Frattesi, however, would prefer to remain in Italy, with Juventus, Roma, and Napoli all potential destinations.
Another player Inter could cash in on is Nikola Stankovic, who was re-signed by the club for €23 million. While the Serbian goalkeeper is keen to stay, Inter would consider offers of €40 million or more. Kristjan Asllani’s permanent move from Besiktas for €11.5 million did not materialize, but the Turkish club may return with a reduced offer. He is also attracting interest from Cagliari.
Tommaso Akinsanmiro, after his loan spell at Pisa was not made permanent, is attracting attention from clubs in Germany, with offers expected around €9-10 million. Frenchman Lucien Massolin will be assessed during pre-season training, with a loan move to a Serie A club a likely outcome. Catanzaro have expressed interest in signing 20-year-old attacking midfielder Luka Topalovic, while Oumar Diouf, who provided an assist for Diouf in a recent match, is expected to remain as a backup option on the right wing, though a bid of at least €25 million could change that.
Inter are also monitoring potential interest in Hakan Calhanoglu, though no immediate exit is anticipated. The club anticipates renewed speculation from Turkish clubs regarding the experienced midfielder. These potential departures are aimed at streamlining the squad and raising funds to strengthen the team under coach Simone Inzaghi.
