Liverpool Make Formal Approach for Hoffenheim Winger Bazoumana Toure
Liverpool have made a formal approach to sign Hoffenheim's Ivorian winger Bazoumana Toure, according to a report from Sky Germany. The Premier League club has officially registered its interest in the 20-year-old, becoming the first English club to do so, as they look to secure his signature ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old winger, who joined Hoffenheim from Hammarby in February 2025, has emerged as a key target after a breakout season in the Bundesliga. According to the report, Liverpool have made their interest official, informing Hoffenheim of their desire to sign the player. Toure's contract with Hoffenheim runs until 2029 and does not contain a release clause, putting the German club in a strong negotiating position.
Hoffenheim are under no pressure to sell cheaply and have set a significant asking price. According to Sky Germany, the Bundesliga club intends to make Toure its record departure, which would require a fee exceeding the €43.5 million they received from Newcastle United for Joelinton in 2019. Sporting director Andreas Schicker acknowledged the growing interest, stating, "If there is interest, it has to be in a league that Hoffenheim haven't seen before," suggesting the club would only consider a sale for a record-breaking fee.
Toure has enjoyed a stellar season in Germany, contributing three goals and eleven assists in 25 Bundesliga appearances this season, earning him a place in the Ivory Coast national team. His dynamic, direct style of play has drawn comparisons to a "chaos-maker" who combines speed and technical skill, attracting attention from several top clubs. Manchester United and Arsenal have also been linked with the player in recent months.
The 20-year-old's form has made him one of the most sought-after young wingers in Europe. Liverpool's formal expression of interest signals a clear intent to reinforce their attacking options ahead of the new season, viewing Toure as a player who can add pace and creativity to their forward line. The coming weeks will be crucial in determining whether Liverpool can meet Hoffenheim's valuation and secure the Ivorian international.
