Liverpool are monitoring Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola with a view to a potential summer transfer, though prising him away from the French champions will require a British-record fee, according to TEAMtalk. While PSG publicly maintain Barcola is not for sale, his representatives have been exploring options for several weeks, holding discussions with multiple top European clubs.
Barcola reportedly informed PSG of his desire to assess his options before the World Cup, after falling down the pecking order in Luis Enrique’s attack. The arrival of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele, and Desire Doue has limited Barcola’s playing time, notably in the Champions League semi-finals and final, leading to frustration and a rejection of contract renewal talks. The 23-year-old has two years remaining on his current contract.
PSG are prepared to consider a sale should Barcola reiterate his desire to leave, and intermediaries have communicated the club’s financial demands to interested parties. PSG are seeking around €150million (£128m) for the France international, which would surpass the current British transfer record of £125million Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak. The Reds have identified Barcola as their priority attacking target after Yan Diomande indicated his preference to join PSG.
PSG are also progressing with deals to sign Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig and Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco, and are seeking a new No.9 following Goncalo Ramos’s departure. These potential arrivals mean a Barcola sale is not essential to fund further business. However, the club’s position remains that they will not prevent Barcola from leaving if their valuation is met. Arsenal also continue to monitor the situation, but are currently focused on a move for Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers. Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich have also been kept informed of developments, though few clubs are likely to be able to meet PSG’s asking price.
