Liverpool are in advanced talks to re-sign Blackburn Rovers midfielder Patrik Farkas, four years after he departed the club’s academy. The Hungary youth international is set to become a free agent when his contract at Ewood Park expires in July, and Liverpool are negotiating a Bosman move to bring him back to Anfield, according to Anfield Watch.
The 19-year-old spent two years within Liverpool’s youth setup before joining Blackburn at the under-16 level. He made 10 appearances in Premier League 2 for Blackburn last season, scoring once against Watford U21s in the Premier League Cup. Farkas’ younger brother, Erik, currently plays for Liverpool’s U18s and recently signed his first scholarship contract with the club.
If the transfer is completed, Farkas will become the first signing of the Andoni Iraola era at Liverpool. Iraola was officially announced as the club’s new head coach on Thursday, having signed a two-year contract following the sacking of Arne Slot. The former Bournemouth manager guided the Cherries to a sixth-place finish in the Premier League and a Europa League spot last season.
Liverpool are anticipating a busy summer transfer window, with several key players set to depart. Ibrahima Konate is set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, alongside Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker has also been linked with a move to Juventus. The club has already secured a replacement for Konate, with Stade Rennais centre-back Jeremy Jacquet set to arrive in July. Liverpool are also aiming to sign at least one new forward and another defender to bolster their squad.
